Makeup – The secret to the perfect Brown Smokey Eye day-to-night

Artist, Lifestyle

Getting your makeup done professionally is a wonderful treat 💄❤️

I recently had Annies_Makeup give me a makeover and I loved Annie’s work so much that right after the shoot I got a makeup lesson scheduled with her.

I work in the media industry and mainly use Instagram to promote my work and others’ too, so I know it is important to credit the artist. For a working professional, someone who makes their living and pays their bills by freelancing, it’s not JUST a photo. It’s hours of hard physical and intellectual work. It’s crucial to credit the artists: explaining why it’s so important to give credit when posting their work.

So I had this wonderful session with a very young, talented & most affordable makeup artist in the island. She has a wonderful eye for color, respectfully listens to your requests, and moves throughout the getting-ready period with a calm, collected stress-free attitude.

Annie was absolutely brilliant and so lovely with myself and my family. She immediately put me at ease and listened to what I wanted in my makeup application. I trusted her immediately and was not disappointed. I never felt rushed and she took a great deal of care with my application. I felt pampered and enjoyed her company; we had some good laughs. My makeup was perfect! She gave me a brown smokey eye day-to-night look.

Here’s the final look and the step-by-step breakdown:

The 13 Products that was used to Achieve the Brown Smokey Eye Day-to-Night Makeup Look:

Step One: essence makeup primer spray.
Step Two: Maybelline Fit me foundation 220.
Step Three: Kryolan concealer wheel.
Step Four: Becca blush and highlighter.
Step Five: Kat Von D Metal crush highlighter.
Step Six: Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel.
Step Seven: Revolution shadow palette.
Step Eight: Huda Beauty shadow palette.
Step Nine: Eyelashes @Bahrain Lashes
Step Ten: Gosh Arabia loose powder.
Step Eleven: Lipstick Nyx exotic peach no12

Step Twelve: Eyeliner Inglot gel black liner
Step Thirteen: Mac Cosmetics fixing spray.

I can’t wait to see Annie again for my next event and will recommend her whenever I can. For bookings, inquiries & tutorials, go follow her Instagram account Annies_Makeup

Saturday, June 9, 2018 marks Global Welness Day 💕

For anyone who knows me, I’m not a very emotional person. But this shit matters. Mental health is not something we can ignore. Know this – for every person trying to knock you down, there are 10 more incredible people who want to help you stand back up. Be authentic, and never be afraid to ask for help. You are not alone.

Feed your mind positive thoughts, nourish your body with healthy food and fun activities, and most of all, take the time to do what makes your soul happy! 😍

Kids like to see their parents happy. Crazy but true. Seeing you engaged in something that makes you happy is guaranteed to pique your child’s interest in that activity. The experience you have while doing an activity you love may be much different when your child joins you. It may take a longer amount of time to complete, it may not be as relaxing, and it may be frustrating at times. For me, it was all of the above. Once I let go of the idea of a traditional yoga practice and embraced the idea that yoga can be silly, it was much more enjoyable for my child and I. We make a lot of goofy animals noises, sometimes we fall off balance, and we don’t take our yoga practice too seriously. Most importantly, we laugh. A lot.

As a parent, you don’t just pass on genes to your children. Whether you want them to or not, your kids will pick up your good and bad habits. So make them good, all good, and teach your children some well-being habits that they can carry along with them long after you can carry them.

Being a night owl – I stay up late because..

Lifestyle

Nightbloggers 🙋🏻 In need of some inspo. Go through this and see if it can do anything for ya. Have fun!

I have always been a night owl, and you’d think since becoming a parent I would have switched from night owl to early bird…but…I haven’t.
Well, let me tell you…

I stay up late because the allure of peace and quiet—while everyone else sleeps—is too appealing to miss out on.

I stay up late because the desire to have time to myself—to do whatever I want, without answering to anyone else—is too precious to pass up.

I stay up late because my passion for my work runs deep, and sometimes I just can’t seem to switch it off.

I stay up late because I want to finally start that book I bought a month ago.

I stay up late because I want a sliver of time to feel like “human-adult-me.” Not “mom-wife-me.” Just me.

I stay up late because I want time to let my brain think and process—without distractions and noise.

I stay up late because I can’t seem to be okay with the fact that I don’t get any time to myself during the day. Does time while sleeping count as “time to myself?”

These late night hours are my time to be selfish. To think of me—and me only. In this world of motherhood, we don’t often get time or space to put our needs first. Because throughout the day, the needs of others must be filled. But late at night, my people are all safely, peacefully sleeping, and I can focus on whatever is calling to me in the moment.

Beauty – Updated Top Five Favorites

Lifestyle

Hey beauty addicts! Updated Top 5 current beauty, skin & hair favorites onto my story and beauty highlights..
______________________________
I make no pretenses that I’m some beauty guru.
But after a baby and months of seeing pictures of myself and thinking, “My skin does not look 21 anymore,” I decided I was ready to take my beauty and makeup routine a little more seriously. I don’t like wearing a lot of makeup and I really don’t want it to take up very much of my time, but after months of experimenting with some different products and slowly getting the hang of how to actually wear makeup like a grown-up, here are the five products that make me happy every single morning & evening.

There are so many beauty products out there and it’s fun to experiment. I always love hearing what people are using and what product(s) they just can’t live without. Don’t forget, I want to hear from you too, so make sure to SHARE yours in the comment section below!

All new at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa

Décor, Events & Experiences, Hotel, Travel and Food

With all new decor and a new sense of comfort, The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa in Bahrain has had an exciting makeover to ensure your stay is an even more pleasurable experience. All the living spaces have been revisited to blend function and design, to improve your feeling of wellbeing. Well, my affection for The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa dates back to 2017 when I had one of DD’s first milestones celebration at the hotel! Fast forward one year, I’m back and excited to witness the transformation that has taken place in 2018.

Bigger and brighter, discreetly exuding sensuality, everything (post-renovation) lived up to its reputation. While the colours are brighter, fresher and more dynamic, the lighting is very natural, creating a real feeling of wellness. Everything has been designed to make you feel at ease.

Teal (color) is given pride of place in the rooms to provide warmth and comfort.

Bloggers and members of media getting a tour of the renovated rooms

Luxury takes on a whole new meaning with exotic mix, high-design interiors to the tech savvy amenities, every detail of the new rooms are created to inspire an ambience of chic, modern elegance.

Just as the overall concept for the bedrooms is to combine comfort and functionality, the hotel reception looks welcoming and ergonomic. Whether your stay is for pleasure or business, you can make the most of all the benefits of The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa.

Members of the media

In addition to the rooms, lobby space and renovated reception area with bright new furnishings, the hotel refurbishments now include a complete overhaul of dining at the newly launched and stylized “Royal Café”. A great place for both formal and informal meetings, the Café provides a welcoming atmosphere for guests. I was pleased with the nice selection of teas, decadents and light dishes.

The decor is very chic and the textural furniture add glam sheen and shine to the place. The service was so good that I went home and texted the Team to thank them. I love nothing more than being surprised by anticipated good service being nothing short of exceptional. This is a place for a get-together, partying, a romantic date or someone who happens to be blogging their way through 5* hotels…

A flight of fantasy to Macau

Hotel, Travel and Food

Macanese moments are well presented in these photos. Now, I learned that even if a place is as small as Macau, one should never underestimate the great treasures that can lie within.

“First birthdays are for the parents’ benefit, to celebrate surviving the first year and remember the day you gave birth. Do whatever you fancy. Your baby won’t hold it against you!” It’s an exciting milestone! So we decided to go on a vacation to a nice place with hills, beach and culture on our baby’s first birthday which was on the December, 29th. Anyone else planning the first birthday vacation?

As we were traveling with our baby girl, we preferred to limit our destination choice to within a 6-hour flight; hence we decided on Macau for the Christmas and Birthday celebration. We booked our reservation at Crowne Plaza, Macau for 6 days.

Got into our hotel room

Francis and his team at Crowne Plaza went out of their way to make us feel comfortable ❤

Apparently spending 5 nights in Hong Kong and 3 in Macau, should be adequately good  to get an OK experience of the place, but we wanted a get-fit, healthy, relaxing and a special birthday vacation. So we decided to visit Hong Kong sometime in the future. I have been traveling the world together with my partner for over seven years now and one of the things we love the most is the freedom that travel and this lifestyle gives us.

The islands of Macau, settled off the coast of Hong Kong in the South China Sea, can only be described as an exception. Here, in the middle of Asia, you can spot yourself walking through an old Portuguese village or standing in the thick of colorful lights of a Vegas-style strip of casinos. It’s a place where a long colonial history has brought cultural influences together from all corners of the globe, resulting in a truly one of a kind destination.

Macau has a little bit of culture for everyone. For historical culture there are amazing churches and museums, and for local culture the beaches, attractions and nightlife are like no other city in the world. From Hong Kong you can reach Macau by jetfoil, which makes the area a popular day-trip destination.

Known for its huge casinos and being the world’s top gambling city, it boasts some of the luxury hotels and is a great destination for Michelin-starred fine dining. We visited The Venetian, Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16, The Parisian, Galaxy Macau, Grand Coloane Resort and Four Seasons.

We visited their restaurants to celebrate our ‘thank goodness we survived the first tricky 365 days’ with cutting a cake or a dessert in plate each day of the trip.

Honestly we  wanted to explore so much more but it is quite challenging when you travel with baby (howbeit we embraced the new fun and craziness of traveling with our bundle of joy, all the gear and baby-lugging was a great vacation exercise).

I love learning about (and tasting) all of the amazing foods in the world. Each shoot I experience new things to add to my food memory bank. (Blog Post coming soon)

Important things that you should be informed if you are planning a day trip to Macau from Hong Kong:

Allow 1 hour to get from hotel to ferry+tickets+boarding.

Allow 1 hour to get from HK to Macau.

Allow 30mins to disembark, immigration then taxi.

Similar the other way round…so travelling will cost you 5 hours.

Longer ferry waiting times during weekends and public holidays.

If you leave at 9am, you will reach Macau at 1130. To get back to HK by 6pm, you will have to leave Macau by 430. That gives you 5 hours. I think you should stay for dinner. Try Macanese or Portugese food, or visit the Casinos. Take a later ferry and be back by about 11pm.

P.S. Will update the blog with more photos of the trip and also working on a separate blog about my dining experience at Cafe Azure and about my stay at Crowne Plaza, The Venetian, The Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16, and Grand Coloane Beach Resort.

Till we meet again

The Face Shop – Travel Ready Beauty

Lifestyle

Everyone around me knows I’m the hang-up type. When I find something I like I consume it with all my heart until the love affair is over for good. Luckily there are long lasting loves that last a lifetime, but there are also shorter flings that are just as important.

These are my current favorites from The Face Shop,  the ultimate must-have skin care and beauty items for travel – the ones I’d never leave home without. There’s nothing worse than arriving at security and having your precious, full-sized products confiscated.  I hate to admit it, But I’m a fan of buying travel-size emulsion, deodorant, contact solution, toothpaste and skin products.
I’ve been using these Calendula essential moisture toner and emulsion as part of my daytime skincare routine for the past one month, and I think that’s enough time to get a good feel for them. If you’re not familiar with what Korean-style “toner” and “emulsion” are, it basically means a liquidy skin softening step (usually applied with a cotton pad or the fringes) and a very lightweight creamy lotion.

A hydrating toner emulsion that helps improve suppleness, and gives your skin a surge of moisture. The emulsion consistency is thicker than the toner’s. I only used my hands to apply these two products, and never had to use any cotton pads. The toner consistency is actually thicker than the usual watery toner, which does help moisturize my skin when the cool blast of air conditioning leaves me dried out.

The Therapy is an anti-aging skincare line that embodies a two-century-old European natural blending method from Le Marche, Italy. The use of oat seeds, marigold, bay leaf and olive extracts keep skin looking youthful.

The Therapy is bottled up with the sweat of Marches’ very own hand-made manufacturing method. This European base skincare line comes with four products from tonic treatment, formula emulsion, oil-drop-anti-aging serum and cream. The anti-aging treatment is formulated with an essential ingredient that functions as a toner and booster to even out rough and flaky skin.

Sheet masks are always my favorite option to carry during my trips and I carry a lot of them especially when I am visiting home as these are my mother’s favorite thing!

The sheet masks are fully dipped in a plain white moisturizing solution. I think the quantity of moisturizer is very good to cover up my whole face. It is a normal plain white mask, that never leaves any stain behind on face. Size of the sheet mask is good for a long face like me but with oval face, it needs effort to fit it properly. The texture nicely sticks on my face. The gel feels like a super smooth silky consistency, that is also easy to massage on face.

I keep this for around 20min on face and then massage the gel on face for around 5min and rinse it off. Sheet is full of moisturizer, that starts to penetrate in the skin nicely after few minutes. It never feels dry on skin and also it is easy to peel off from face.

After removing the mask, face feels totally moisturized and soft. It acts as an instant relief for dry skin. It hides all my dry patches and makes skin super soft. The mask feels very soothing on face and the cooling sensation provides a great relief to tired skin.

The Face Shop launched its Dr. Belmeur range a few months ago. It is a gentle Derma Cosmetics solution that uses mild plant-based ingredients + low irritant formula recommended by skin experts tailored for different skin types to achieve beautiful, healty skin that feels great.

Dr. Belmeur line uses Skin Sync formula that comes very close to our skin cell structure, which will be easily accepted by skin. Dr. Belmeur Clarifying Toner is a low-irritant clarifying moisturizer that takes care of excess oil and maintains skin’s oil and moisture balance. A must-have to achieve flawless, oil-free skin!

YEHWADAM Revitalizing Serum is a good choice if you want to re-vitalize and re-energize your skin. The first thing I noticed after using this serum is the suppleness of my skin, it feels bouncier and smoother. I just love the texture on my skin because it gives me this cooling sensation that could help in soothing my mild sensitive skin.

Been using The Face Shop Rice Water Bright and Perfume Seed collection for about a fortnight and it’s good. While it is a bit of tedious step to foam it up I love how soft and bright my skin feels post wash.

The perfume seed line penetrates to nourish and soften the skin while leaving it delicately perfumed. The Face Shop Perfume Seed Capsule Body Wash contains rose hip oil that moisturizes and removes dead skin cells. Its sweet fragrance lasts up to 15 hours.

When it comes to skin care and cosmetics, the Korean brand The Face Shop is one of the most trusted names when it comes to beauty and skincare products. Aside from getting a great and effective products, The Face Shop price is actually so affordable that you will be tempted to check out more of their products. So whether you are a newbie or a makeup enthusiast, The Face Shop cream, cleanser, and moisturizer are absolute must-haves. Check out the full price list from your trusted online shop.

Till next time!

North East at its finest, Vivanta By Taj – Guwahati

Hotel, Travel and Food

THAT’S A WRAP. Thank you all for your support! I loved this blog. Loved shooting it, loved writing it, loved coordinating, contributing, and loved reading it as it held an emotional aspect – going back to the place you grew up in is a really weird mix of feelings. But truth be told, it was a lot of work, I was on the road a lot, daily keeping up with the motherhood tasks all while trying to post 1 fortnightly article and update the older ones.

On this vacation, I wanted to make the most of my time exploring the luxury destinations and dishes in my city. So, I bring to you my lavish and exclusive experience at the dreamy Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati. Taj group of hotels epitomize royalty, luxury & elegance and Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati offers a unique flavour of hospitality with world-class refinement while remaining deeply rooted in its local heritage.

I visited the hotel on the very busy Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with the offering of a Gamusa/Gamosa/Gamocha (a white hand-woven piece of cloth of cotton or silk, with red woven patterns or motifs on two sides and red stripes on the long border) that holds a unique identity of the Assamese Society and the trademark aarti, tikka of a Taj Hotel.

This is an incredible honor and the equivalent to getting a Hermès scarf imo..not a bag though (hint hint to hubby ;))

After the welcome tea and a sumptuous lunch at one of the grand in-house restaurants, SEVEN (an ode to the seven sister states of India, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh) it was time I took a tour of the hotel and its highlights and luxury services. Ms.Indranee, Public Relations Consultant, accompanied me for the blog tour. Her knowledge and passion for the Taj was evident and she answered all of my questions pertaining to the Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati (I ask a lot of questions…as Google can attest).

Menu that shows Northeast India at its artistic best

Highlights of my lunch at SEVEN.

-Salmon khorika with bambooshoot chutney.

-Penne Mandhania Pesto.

-Traditional Assamese Thali.

-Masor Tenga (fish in tomato gravy).

-Amita (Papaya) Khar.

-Black Rice (Manipuri) Kheer.

-Pork leg with bambooshoot and laai xaak.

-Assamese style mutton leg.

-Siddho Chicken.

-Rich pastry dessert from France called “Opera” (Butter cream
Almond sponge based on almond powder, egg white, flour ,vanilla essence, icing sugar, Coffee liquor, Black rice pudding, Ginger Belgium Chocolate Veloute)

(Special thanks to the kitchen and catering team Chef Biswarup, Pastry Chef Toufique and Debraj for all of their efforts in creating a truly special traditional full course meal with authentic dishes from Northeast India).

The other in-house restaurant UMAMI (do you guys know what that means? I didn’t….it’s the savory taste on our taste buds. One of the five basic tastes) serves a wide range of international cuisines including contemporary Chinese and Japanese.

Along with SEVEN and UMAMI, the property also has a lounge bar, OCTAVE. This place is well known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere as well as a convenient meeting spot for friends, families and work colleagues. All the restaurants can all be accessed from the Hotel’s lobby.

Akash and his team at Octave are awesome party starters. You will get a fantastic show combined with high quality cocktails/mocktails

Stunning range of Decanterlights at Octave

The architecture and experiences at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati pay homage to the local culture. The entire experience revolves around the landscape, the local knowledge and folklore. The hotel weaves those characteristics to make our stay unique and fosters a sense of belonging immediately.

My tour included of one of the Deluxe Delight Rooms on the 6th floor. It had all standard amenities that you expect of a luxury hotel. The rooms boast of traditional carved wooden and bamboo furniture, royal interiors, abundantly stocked mini-bar, sleek workspace and picturesque hill and pool views. Can anything get better than this? (yes a week long stay!….on my wish list) I loved everything from the textured walls, to the elegant bed linens, everything was masterfully styled with motifs that symbolise the Ahom dynasty and is a beautiful amalgamation/confluence of all Northeastern tribes and generations. The perfect blend of modern with traditional roots.

Some More Highlights of my Room Tour

I have a great admiration for those hotels that provide Forest Essentials Bath & Body products so if the Taj group could get any higher in my opinion, they just did.

Apart from the easy accessibility and brilliant interiors, another major selling point of the hotel is the tranquil Jiva Spa (Taj’s award winning Indian and all-natural Spas) that offers soul stirring Ayurveda and Spa treatments. For an ultimate rejuvenating experience, treat your love and yourself with a “Sangam” (couple) Jiva Spa experience.

Look at these positive notes instead of looking on the floor during your spa treatments. How exotic!

If you are at the Jiva Spa, ask Esther for a detoxifying Vishuddhi chai (a lipsmacking yet calming concoction of lemon juice, jaggary and holy basil) before and after your massage.

Jiva treatments and therapies are inspired by the very meaning of the word Jiva (‘inner force’) which, for centuries, has been deeply rooted in India’s rich heritage of wellness.

WELLNESS AMENITIES AND DETAILS

-A large spa reception lounge
-1 Couple treatment suite & 2 Single treatment rooms
-A large fitness zone
-Wet and dry areas

This culturally rich hotel is a wonderful venue for artists and art lovers. Hastakshar’ artwork collections (a unique art gallery initiative by ‘First Hand Foundation’) are displayed around the hotel premises on the first floor next to Jiva Spa.

The works of these artists reflect the region’s diversity and its rich cultural, spiritual and natural heritage.

The Fitness Centre at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati has everything you need to meet your health and fitness requirements on the go. The in-house gym has a trainer and a yoga instructor.

The gym setting is spacious, clean and provides a friendly atmosphere catering for all levels. Including the child in me ….who wanted to bounce on the exercise balls…what? It’s a valid form of exercise!

The spacious lawns, gardens and pool area on the hotel grounds offer a good walking opportunity. The hotel is tucked in vegetation and its gorgeous gardens greatly enhance the look of the place, especially the Halicornias, (also popularly known as yellow orchids, lobster-claw, wild plantain or false bird-of-paradise) the colors of which are an important source of attraction and are used for interior arrangement in the hotel.

This hotel has already become a landmark in Guwahati city. It is located in Khanapara and very close to the Secretariat in Dispur, the Capital of Assam and is conveniently situated near Guwahati-Shillong highway. The distance from the Airport is covered within an hour through the expressway, after taking a right turn from Jhalukbari crossing. The hotel is hospitable for both business and leisure travelers. It is a proven international business and conferencing destination as well as a great place to stop by –enroute to discovering the Northeast India.

I left the hotel with a sense of pride at my heritage and deep appreciation for a chain that is providing International modern standards of service but has not forgotten Indian standards of hospitality and roots. Oh I also left stuffed! The food was amazing!

If you enjoyed reading this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d help it spread by sharing it on Facebook and Twitter. Come back here and share your travel and getaway stories.

Love love love
