Oasis of tranquility in busy Hamburg – Planten un Blomen

Travel and Food

There is such power in nature. It’s always in motion, isn’t it? This summer, I am going to reconnect with nature by taking my daughter on nature walks. Hamburg is a beautiful, clean city, and Planten un Blomen is an even more beautiful spot right in the middle! We visited the botanical garden in April this year when the Cherry blossoms were out and were so impressed that we wanted to take our daughter again and again.

The botanic garden Park Planten un Blomen (Plants and Flowers in English) has fountains, a playground, and a rink for ice skating. The park is famous for its water-light concerts, public theater and music performances. In addition to the gardens, there is a large playground in the southern area of the park.

Absolutely recommend for people who are looking for a quiet escape right inside the city! You can relax on the many chairs or on the grass admiring the city view from the lovely park with lots of flowers, trees and plenty of water. Ideal for families with young children to enjoy fun in the water and on the playground. It’s rather big so bring plenty of time. On a sunny day, you can spend many hours here (Suggested duration: More than 3 hours).

Just a short stroll from the city Planten un Blomen is the place to relax under Mediterranean fig trees or at the Japanese teahouse. The park offers manicured flower beds, herb gardens, and vast lawns. Idyllic ponds, as well as themed gardens, are a popular time-out spot for business people and university students alike. And with access to central Hamburg, the park is never far away. 🌳🍀🚶🏻‍♀️

Enjoy crossing the water using the stepping stones with the ducks and turtles swimming through.

A must do to in Hamburg in order to feel the city and its spirit. Soak up the sun, have a picnic or rollerskate, relax on the chairs by the koi ponds, watch your children play, or engage in water sports with your family or enjoy ice cream or drinks in one of several spots throughout the park, or simply walk and admire. You never run out of options in the 47 hectares (116.1 acres) urban

Post Scrubbing Essentials – THE FACE SHOP Moisture Emulsion

Lifestyle

If you’ve been curious what to do after exfoliating face, the main takeaway is to stay moisturized! After exfoliating, the skin is going to be at a more sensitive state than usual. This is why it’s important to give it time to recover, by allowing it to calm and repair itself with a hydrating Emulsion.

What is an emulsion, and how is it different from a moisturizer? In this blog post, I will break down everything you need to know about emulsions, a hero product in the K-beauty routine.

🌼 Emulsions are lighter versions of moisturizing creams. Unlike most heavy facial creams, emulsions are typically water-based, which means they go on lighter and thinner than creams. Emulsions absorb into the skin much more quickly and don’t sit on top of the skin the same way some creams do.

🌼 So what do emulsions do?

Emulsions offer many of the same benefits of a cream, just in a lighter formula. They’re formulated to act as a moisture lock that seals in all the hydration and benefits of your essence and serums. Many people use emulsions as a continuance of their treatment products, not just as a moisturizer.

🌼 When do you use it?

Emulsions are the in-between product between serums and creams. It’s not quite as light as a serum, but not quite as heavy as a cream. Similarly, it isn’t as concentrated as serums, but more targeted than heavy creams.

🌼 Emulsions for each skin type:

1. For very oily skin, emulsions can be an great option as your final moisturizing step before applying SPF.

2. For combination and acne-prone skin, you can use an emulsion to target oil, blemishes, and excess sebum.

3. Normal skin types can still obtain benefits from emulsion even if they don’t have a skin concern they want to target.

4. For sensitive skin, emulsions are perfect to promote healthy, nourished skin without irritating it or penetrating deep enough to provoke inflammation and redness.

5. And if you’re in my camp and struggle with dry skin, emulsions are seriously a life-saver.

The Face Shop Moisture Lotion Tonique & Emulsion Travel Kit

🌼 Bottom Line

Just like treatment products, what emulsion you use and how you use it really depends on your specific needs. But whether you’re trying to find a lighter moisturizer for humid weather, or you’re looking for another layer of moisture to keep your skin from drying out, emulsions can certainly find a way into your routine. And, take it from me, you’ll be happy once they do.

Just a Ceylon – Assam Tea for me, please!

Lifestyle

Dark, cold mornings can make getting out of bed a harder task than it already is. As the temperature falls, a little warmth goes a long way ☕️

☕️ Recently, I’ve got my hands on a blend of Assam and Ceylon teas from Lord Nelson Lidl Deutschland and I’m completely hooked 😋

🌱 It’s 100% organic

🌱 High aromatic taste

🌱 Refreshing

🌱 Infusion time: 3 min

I generally drink my black and green tea with honey (depending on my mood, I add a slice of lemon or sometime I put a stick of cinnamon.) Other time I like it to be brewed properly for about 5 min and then add little milk and sugar (2 Tsp). What is your favorite kind of tea? And what do you like to put in your tea?

Durga Puja – Rio Carnival of the East

Events & Experiences

“She can move darkness”

Most important part of the year for a Bengali has arrived. Oh great Mother, we welcome you on this earth whole heartedly. May your arrival destroy all the negativity around us.

📸 – Shekhar Jajodia

For me, the feeling of Durga Puja is incomparable to any other time of the year. It’s a 10 day long celebration filled with delicious food, new clothes (hello, new saris!), aartis and pujas, and being surrounded by your family and friends. Can’t wait to immerse myself into the Godly embrace 🙏🏻 (Excitement creeping in ❤️😁)

Let’s proceed with the assumption that you know what Durga Puja is about. For those who have no clue, it’s the worship of the Hindu Goddess Durga and her children, whose idols are hosted in the makeshift Pandals for around five days. Let’s proceed..

Article Courtesy: Timesofindia Indiatimes Blogs

It won’t be entirely an exaggeration to say that Bengalis world over spend a significant amount of their time planning and deciding what to do during the Durga Pujas. Most of them wear multiple sets of clothes – mind you, there’s a morning outfit and an evening outfit, plus emergency backup outfits. And of course, there are important decisions to make – like what to eat on which day. From the warm khichudi, papad bhaja as bhog in pandals to the street stalls set up to serve delectable dishes like egg rolls, kobiraji and mughlai parota, you are game to feast on anything and everything.

So prior to the pujas, the air is absolutely thick with a feeling one gets just before the starting, the unravelling of something extremely huge — the feeling you get just before reaching the peak of a much awaited climax.

You will get to see sweaty Bongs, who under the twelve o’clock sun, sits in an auto patiently stuck in a huge traffic jam in the heart of a buzz-filled street, clutching onto innumerable bulging shopping bags of different shapes and sizes. This is called Puja shopping.

It is a reverberating rhythm which amplifies and resounds in the sounds of the dhak. It’s a feeling. You can not only hear it, but feel it — you get goose bumps when the dhakis first begin to play their beat. The city reverberates with the echo of conch shells, which is no less than a divine feeling.

Durga Puja is actually, the celebration of ‘life’ and the joy of ‘living’ more than anything else. Durga Puja becomes an expression of the city itself. It is almost that the city bursts into laughter during these few days.

Saturday, June 9, 2018 marks Global Welness Day 💕

For anyone who knows me, I’m not a very emotional person. But this shit matters. Mental health is not something we can ignore. Know this – for every person trying to knock you down, there are 10 more incredible people who want to help you stand back up. Be authentic, and never be afraid to ask for help. You are not alone.

Feed your mind positive thoughts, nourish your body with healthy food and fun activities, and most of all, take the time to do what makes your soul happy! 😍

Kids like to see their parents happy. Crazy but true. Seeing you engaged in something that makes you happy is guaranteed to pique your child’s interest in that activity. The experience you have while doing an activity you love may be much different when your child joins you. It may take a longer amount of time to complete, it may not be as relaxing, and it may be frustrating at times. For me, it was all of the above. Once I let go of the idea of a traditional yoga practice and embraced the idea that yoga can be silly, it was much more enjoyable for my child and I. We make a lot of goofy animals noises, sometimes we fall off balance, and we don’t take our yoga practice too seriously. Most importantly, we laugh. A lot.

As a parent, you don’t just pass on genes to your children. Whether you want them to or not, your kids will pick up your good and bad habits. So make them good, all good, and teach your children some well-being habits that they can carry along with them long after you can carry them.

Being a night owl – I stay up late because..

Lifestyle

Nightbloggers 🙋🏻 In need of some inspo. Go through this and see if it can do anything for ya. Have fun!

I have always been a night owl, and you’d think since becoming a parent I would have switched from night owl to early bird…but…I haven’t.
Well, let me tell you…

I stay up late because the allure of peace and quiet—while everyone else sleeps—is too appealing to miss out on.

I stay up late because the desire to have time to myself—to do whatever I want, without answering to anyone else—is too precious to pass up.

I stay up late because my passion for my work runs deep, and sometimes I just can’t seem to switch it off.

I stay up late because I want to finally start that book I bought a month ago.

I stay up late because I want a sliver of time to feel like “human-adult-me.” Not “mom-wife-me.” Just me.

I stay up late because I want time to let my brain think and process—without distractions and noise.

I stay up late because I can’t seem to be okay with the fact that I don’t get any time to myself during the day. Does time while sleeping count as “time to myself?”

These late night hours are my time to be selfish. To think of me—and me only. In this world of motherhood, we don’t often get time or space to put our needs first. Because throughout the day, the needs of others must be filled. But late at night, my people are all safely, peacefully sleeping, and I can focus on whatever is calling to me in the moment.
